Information about the traditional lantern making workshops for the Grand Lantern Parade on Friday November 25th
This year's lantern making workshops will be held on Saturday 5th, 12th and 19th of November from 10.30 3.30 in Spindle Mill see address below.
These are family workshops so we ask parents/guardians to stay and work with their children to make the lanterns all ages welcome.
It takes on average one and a half hours to make one but there is no time limit if you want to get seriously creative! We use willows and tissue paper and PVA glue it can get very messy! Don't wear your best clothes!
We do take bookings particularly if you are a big group or you can just show up on the day.
You will then carry your lantern in the Parade and follow Santa in his sleigh to the stage by the Christmas Tree where he and his helpers will switch on the lights at 6.00pm
We will meet up Back Street Car Park (behind Lawton Street) from 5.15. The parade will set off at 5.30 led by Karamba samba drumming band.
Dress up warm as it can get chilly when waiting about.
