Congleton Community Projects (CCP) and Volunteer Action Congleton (VAC) – here you can understand:

  • why CCP and VAC encourage volunteering,
  • what it means to volunteer in your community
  • how we can safely steer you through the process.

Why do we involve volunteers?

CCP values volunteers. We recognise the hugely significant and valuable role that volunteers play in enhancing our work in the community. We encourage and support volunteer involvement in all the events and activities we deliver to the community.

VAC is a hub that manages volunteers in Congleton. VAC identifies opportunities for volunteers and matches them on an individual basis, while providing ongoing help, support and mentoring.

There are lots of volunteering opportunities all over Congleton and at VAC we work hard, with our personal approach, to find the right opportunity for you.

CCP and VAC are now working together to promote and encourage volunteering in Congleton.

A new opportunity: School Readers

I am from the charity Schoolreaders and we are looking for volunteers in the Congleton area to support primary school children with their reading and comprehension. Our volunteers visit their school for an hour each week and work with the children individually. They need to be over 18 and have good written and spoken English but other than that, no previous experience is needed.

Volunteering with the NHS

A Chance to Give Back By Eve Naden – Volunteer coordinator CVS Cheshire East

Volunteering is a great way to make a real difference and connect with people who care as much as you do. Volunteering not only strengthens resilience but reinforces a culture of compassion and empathy. Nowhere is this more impactful than in a hospital, especially in our current volunteering crisis. In 2023, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) found that volunteering among adults had dropped from 11% to 6%1. Without mentioning the coronavirus elephant in the room, I’m sure we all know a health professional or an NHS staff member that has helped us, a friend, or a family member in some way. Whether providing a service or simply offering support – even clarifying some information or a process – there is no denying that we are lucky to have the NHS. So, why not volunteer?…
